Rhode Island

On Saturday we decided to take a little trip to Rhode Island. We had heard they had nicer beaches and we had seen this Firewater thing on the news that they do in providence and they were doing it again that night, so we parked up and drove the hour and a half to Rhode Island. I love how close everything is here.
We went to Misquamicut State beach.
It was quite busy since it was a holiday weekend but we found a nice little spot for playing in the sand.We build castles and knocked them down.
And buried our legs in the sand.
This beach was a little different then the last one. This beach had big waves. The last beach we went to was in the long island sound so there was only tiny waves, but this was the wide open ocean so there was big waves and Addi wasn't to sure about it.
Daddy enjoyed the big waves and did a little body surfing.
I was still having headaches so I enjoyed a nice relaxing time in my beach chair getting a tan and enjoying these two as my view.
Throwing sand and running away from waves can be tiring for a little one.
So we took a little nap.
Addi had her first ride on a carousel.
And she loved it so much that she tried to climb through the fence to ride it again when we told her we couldn't ride it again. Mean parents I know.
But she was easily distracted with the other cool things around.

After a wonderful day at the beach we left and drove up to providence to see Firewater.
Providence was really pretty. There is a Brown University right downtown and they have a bunch of old buildings and cool statue things everywhere which Addi enjoyed.
The river runs right through downtown.
And have different World War monuments.


We had dinner in the oldest building in Rhode Island and the second oldest industrial building in the United States. The restaurant only had one highchair and it was being used so our waitress went down the street and borrowed one from another restaurant. Apparently it wasn't a kid friendly restaurant, xcept that they gave you crayons to color on the table, so we felt a little out of place.
But Addi enjoyed the ketchup.
We watched the boats in the river while we waited for it to get dark so they could start the show.
And of course Addi made friends with everyone around. She is telling this guy something about her mama who knows what it was. She also made friends with an old lady that was having her 70th birthday party by the river and I think she thought we were there as guests because she kept talking to us like we knew her and the others at the party.
Finally we got to see the fire dancer light all of the fires on the river.
It was pretty cool. This guy walked down this thing in the middle of the river flinging fire around and lighting big fires all the way down the river.
The whole thing was set to music for a really fun show.
They do this several times a summer every year and all for free. Jared said he wants to go back next year. Anyone want to join us?
